New Biome

The new biome, named the “Sulfur Caves” is where everything from this update can be found, it’s a randomly generating subterranean biome which contains all of the new blocks, the new mobs and water pools filled with sulfur.

The water pools, as shown above, are full of “Potent Sulfur”, shown by the unique “acid-green” colour. Potent sulfur can only be found in the bottom of these pools, creating noxious gas with bubble particles in and on top of the water. Nausea is inflicted to players when they come in contact with this noxious gas. The gas can be removed by destroying the potent sulfur under the water. Within this biome are the two new block types, we’ll talk about them next!

New Blocks

The Sulfur and Slimes update will introduce two new block types with a full palette, these being the Sulfur Block and the Cinnabar Block, each of their full palettes can be seen below.

These block palettes are likely to change as they are still in the preview mode.

New Mob

Finally, the new mob that is being introduced in this update, and the main feature of the update is the Sulfur Cube.

The Sulfur Cube is described as a “bucketable jumping passive mob”, it can be picked up with a bucket, it has the properties of a slime and it is passive.

The main feature of the Sulfur Cube is the ability to absorb some blocks, mostly full-sized ones. It can absorb blocks dropped onto the ground and can also be fed a block by interacting with it. Sulfur cubes move towards absorbable blocks dropped on the ground and follow players holding an applicable block.

There are 9 Archetypes that the Sulfur Cube can take depending on the block it takes, you can see them all in the table below.
