Hytale's Chapter 1 update, titled Out of the Breach, is officially out now and available to play! Back in July, we covered some of the changes coming to Hytale that the team behind the game revealed. Now that many of those are finally playable, we'll help catch you up on what you can expect in-game!
Chapter Selection
With the release of the first official chapter in Hytale's development and story, you'll be able to now access a dedicated chapter screen to see your progress and goals in the game!
This comes alongside the Forgotten Temple, featuring an all-new Goblin Lab where you can begin to try to tackle the new content in Hytale Chapter 1.
Chapters also promise a few rewards for completing them as you progress through the game's story and content!
Starting with Chapter 1, players will be able to unlock a few featured cosmetics to customize their characters with after they complete the chapter.
Goblin Breaches
Chapter 1 will introduce random temporary portals in your world. If you travel through them, you'll encounter a random space to try to defeat the hordes of goblins within it before your time runs out!
Try to loot and scavenge all the rewards you can before the breach closes, or upgrade the amount of time you can spend inside o fit from the Goblin Breach Console in the Goblin Lab!
New Biome: Guttering Hollows
Inside the new Guttering Hollows biome, you'll find all sorts of all-new content! Encounter void assassins, find trapped treasure chests, and solve all-new puzzles.
You'll also be able to encounter more of the fully revamped goblin faction, covered in more depth in our previous post on Hytale's upcoming content, including more passive goblins that may run away from these creatures of the void if they don't have friends nearby.
Goblin Gadgets
Goblins can finally live up to their nature as tinkerers! Gain access to 5 New Goblin Gadgets that can totally change the way you navigate the world in Hytale.
Scrap Drill: Mine blocks in a 2x2 area at once.
Scrap Glider: Consume stamina to dive and glide through the skies!
Rocket Boots: Unlock the ability to double jump!
Hookshot: Grappling hooks to quickly propel yourself around the world.
Spyglass: Zoom into enemies or points of interest in the distance without needing to get in harm's way.
Chapter 1 also promises more craftable gadgets and weapons, such as a Bangstick and Goblin Repair Kit.
Runes & Abilities
Hytale now has an entirely new ability system in the form of Runestones! Collect them in your adventures to use in a Runebinder's Lattice to totally customize spells and abilities to match your playstyle.
You can equip a major ability rune with up to 2 modifier runes to affect how your ability works. For example, you could use a modifier rune to split your Fireball ability into multiple smaller projectiles! To start things off, your main options include:

Major Dungeon: The Deepworks
For those hoping to avoid story and lore spoilers for Hytale, be wary if you read onwards!
Hytale Chapter 1 introduces the first hand-crafted dungeon in the game, featuring a signature multi-phase boss fight to tackle.
In this dungeon, you'll navigate the labyrinthine Goblin Deepworks, dodging traps and fending off hordes of Goblins defending their territory. Survive elite goblins and mini bosses along the way, such as the Elite Goblin Feastmaster, and you may earn the right to challenge the dungeon boss: The Gobliterator.
Hytale's Gobliterator boss will pose a huge threat, so be sure you're ready before you head into the final fight of the dungeon. This is Hytale's first major dedicated boss fight, and promises a challenge that can live up to that role.
You can also enable an extra-challenging boss fight by poking a button just ahead of the gate to enter the Gobliterator's arena!
Minigames
Hytale is adding Minigames to the game! In Chapter 1, this will be launching with 2 new minigames for you to play and experiment with.
These are accessible from the new Minigames option from the main menu, featuring Shuffle Jam and Prop Hunt. Calling back to Hytale's Party Games days, you may encounter the following new "microgames" when playing Shuffle Jame:
Color Party, Diving, High Ground, Lavablocks, Lazers, Memory Floor, Plot Painter, Racing, Stash & Seek, Tile Flip, TNT Run, and TNT Tag!
New Cosmetics
Over 100 new cosmetic options have been added to Hytale in chapter 1! Many of these are goblin themed as well, celebrating the new dungeon and overhaul to goblin faction content.
It's not just clothes, though! Explore totally new body options with new hairstyles, ear shapes, makeup options, and more!
Or, if you're still looking for more customization options, there are all sorts of new unlockable cosmetics as well. These are mainly tied to progression through the game at the moment, like through playing the new Chapter 1 story content.
