Hytale has been gearing up to release its first major content chapter for most of 2026, and the time to jump in and give it a shot yourself is almost here! Below, we'll recap some of the changes coming to the game in the update that we know of already, and when you can play for yourself!
When Does Hytale Chapter 1 Release?
We officially have a release date for Chapter 1 of Hytale, officially titled "Out of the Breach," which is set for October 12th, 2026, at 10:00 AM ET. This was announced by Simon, the founder of Hypixel, in an update on Twitter/X on October 9th!

Gift Free Copies of Hytale to Friends
As announced alongside the release date for this update, some exciting news is coming for players that own Cursebreaker editions of Hytale.
For every chapter that comes out in the game leading up to its full 1.0 release, you will receive a free copy of Hytale that you can gift to anyone so they can jump in and join you, or just play for themselves! There are no limits to this, so if they release a full 6 chapters by the time Hytale 1.0 comes out, you'll have been able to give 6 people Hytale for totally free to play with.
If you've been hoping to get Hytale for free or on a tight budget, now is your chance!
What's New in Hytale Chapter 1: Out of the Breach

Back in July, we covered all of the stuff the Hytale team has been working on for Chapter 1 and far into the future beyond it! The plans for this release don't seem to have changed, so a more in-depth breakdown on everything being added to Hytale can be found in our official blog post here!
That said, we'll help break things down in a quicker summary for those just looking for a glance at what's to come; no spoilers!
Dungeon & Boss Content

The first major dedicated dungeon in Hytale is coming in Chapter 1, featuring its own signature boss, and a thriving culture of goblins! More on them later.
Avoiding any spoilers, since the first major boss also comes with a story and progression of its own, it's safe to say that you're in for a challenge! The team behind the game has teased that this first major boss is going to be especially daunting to tackle in hardcore mode, and has gone as far to offer a $15,000 reward to the first person who streams themselves beating the boss with no armor, potions, cheats, or glitches!
Goblin Expansion
Goblins are seeing a massive overhaul in Chapter 1, with the goal of fleshing out a goblin culture and adding more variety in the goblins you can encounter.

As part of this, Hytale will also be adding a new Goblin Breach world event in which a portal spawns in the world that will take you to a randomly generated unstable world where you can fight waves of goblins for rewards!
That's not all, though, as special gadgets like hookshots/grappling hooks will be coming to the game as well. Goblins are tinkerers by trade, and will be the source of many new trinkets and tools to use, also including future additions like gliders and rocket boots!
Spells, Runes, & Abilities
An all-new ability system is being added to Hytale, as well! The team has promised a fully modular system where you can combine all sorts of Runes into custom spells. Combine a Fireball ability rune with Shock & Split modifier runes to have your fireball split into two with electricity running through it!

Visual Improvements & Cosmetics

The menus & UI in Hytale are seeing a promised change to make things feel more intuitive in-game. This is noted as the first step in an ongoing project to work on the menu experience, so more is to come in the future as well.
Apart from some other in-game improvements such as transparent windows, some new cosmetics are also being added in the update to give you a whole suite of new options for customizing your character.
In-Game Mod Browsing
There is also now a mod manager/browser built into Hytale itself, accessible from the main menu!

This means that you can install, browse, swap, and customize every aspect of the game with mods without even leaving the window. This is a huge step for a game as modular as Hytale, and makes customizing the game far easier than it's ever been before.
More Changes & Improvements
The Hytale team has also been working on a lot of other improvements to the game which will start to trickle in (some of which are already in the game!) over time starting with Chapter 1, including:
New music & sound effects
Moving objects & improved game physics (live now!)
More gamemodes (including hardcore & spectator modes - live now!)
Improvements to wildlife & creature behaviour
Carry (or throw) blocks and objects!
So much more to come.
