Hytale's Chapter 1 update added a dedicate minigame system to the game, allowing you to play the starting minigames of Shuffle Jam and Prop Hunt with others!
This is is completely separate from the main sandbox mode of the game, and lets you queue up on your own (or with others) to play these custom modes.
What Minigames Does Hytale Have?
Hytale is debuting with two core minigames: Shuffle Jam and Prop Hunt.
It's worth noting, though, that Shuffle Jam actually has 12 smaller "microgames" within it that you can end up playing! These microgames include:
Color Party: Stand on the correct-colored block to survive each round of the dance party!
Diving: Take the form of a frog and leap into a pond from up high to claim blocks.
High Ground: Stay inside the capture area to earn points while defending it by knocking others away.
Lavablocks: Escape the rising lava by breaking blocks, positioning yourself wisely, and parkour.
Lazers: Fire lasers at your enemies in this Quake-like mode to get the most eliminations.
Memory Floor: Memorize the shapes on the floor and stand on the correct one to win each round.
Plot Painter: Color the biggest share of the board your own color to win.
Racing: Race others and shoot the correct blocks to speed up for an advantage.
Stash & Seek: Hide your relics and then try to seek out everyone else's.
Tile Flip: Run over tiles to flip them and gain unique power-ups along the way.
TNT Run: Run (and jump) across a map as the floor falls beneath you into the void.
TNT Tag: Tag other players to pass TNT to them before it explodes!
How to Play Minigames in Hytale
To access the new Minigames in the game, you'll want to open the Minigames menu from the Main Menu in the game client!
Since minigames are separate from the main sandbox world mode, they have their own dedicated matchmaking and queue system to let you specifically search for others and play the minigame you prefer.
Once in the Minigames Menu, you should see a selection screen like the following:
In the future, this will grow to include many more minigames. Though as of Chapter 1, you'll have the above two options to choose from.
Once you know what you want to play, click Play to queue up. You'll then be placed into a lobby as soon as one is ready for you!
Is Hytale adding more minigames?
Yes! The developers of the game have promised that Prop Hunt and Shuffle Jam are only the beginning for minigames in Hytale.
They are working on some more of their own minigames to add to the game, and in the future will also be introducing ways for players to host their own! This will include a framework for creators building their own minigames, and a dedicated Minigames tab of the Mod Browser.
