Upgrades To Budget Servers
Posted by Chris | 19 August 2024
Starting today we'll be moving servers on the following nodes to upgrade their hardware:
USC-B7-I9-A
USC-B8-I9-A
USC-B9-I9-A
EUL-B2-I9-A
EUL-B3-I9-A
EUL-B4-I9-A
EUL-B5-I9-A
EUL-B6-I9-A
If your node isn’t listed, don’t worry. We'll gradually roll out upgrades to all budget systems.
If you're node is an S node, you're already on the upgraded hardware and won't be affected by this move. To know if this is the case check your node ID. We're looking at the letter before the the first number.
For example this node ID here: USC-S10-I10-A You can see here after USC we have S10. This means we're on a S node. So already on the upgraded hardware.
Why the Upgrade?
Currently, our budget servers cost more per GB to run than our performance spec servers due to changes in hardware costs over the past year. The upgraded systems are more cost-efficient and provide a more powerful server, so it's a win-win for everyone.
What’s the Upgrade?
All current budget customers will be moved to either a Xeon E 2276G or Xeon E 2174G. If you're wondering what we are upgrading from, your current server has a Xeon E3-1230 v5 or Xeon E5-1630v3.
Feel free to look up the improvements yourself, but if you don't know what any of that means, you're getting a faster more modern CPU.
Will My Price Change?
Nope! Just like with our Impact package upgrades, all current clients will keep their existing prices.
When Will My Node Be Upgraded?
We’ll keep you updated in this chat, on our status page, and our Twitter. You’ll receive a notice the day before and when the upgrade is happening.
