Minecraft 26.1 Snapshot 2 - Baby Animals!

Posted by Cole | 8 January 2026

Minecraft has just released the second snapshot for their next update and it is adorable, it might just be the most adorable update the game has ever had.

Of course, we’re talking about the new baby animal models, somehow they are even cuter than before!

If you want to play this new update with your friends, get a server from Kinetic Hosting, we offer the lowest prices and the highest quality, check us out here.

Baby Animal Models

The full list of new mob models are:

  • Rabbit (Baby and Adult Models have been changed)

  • Pig

  • Chicken

  • Wolf

  • Ocelot/Cat

  • Cow

  • Mooshroom

  • Sheep

These models are entirely different to the adult model, meaning that Resource Packs have more freedom with how they customise a baby mob.

Mojang have mentioned that this is just the start so we can assume that all of the creatures that have a baby variant will have a new model when this update is ready.

New Recipe

Name Tags are now craftable, they can be crafted with 1 of any metal nugget and 1 paper.

Final Notes

All in all, this is a relatively small update but, in our option, it is amazing! This is a feature that has been much needed for a long time.
