Upcoming Location Upgrades and Changes
Posted by Chris | 14 October 2025
Hello everyone, we’ve got some changes incoming to our locations, so I just wanted to sit down with you guys and cover why these changes have taken place and what they fully are.
Location Changes & Upgrades
As of the 12th we stopped offering our France location, and removed England and Luxembourg from our Budget offerings. Over the coming weeks we’ll be migrating customers in these locations to new ones. The new locations we’ll be moving customers to will have no real-world ping impact and come with a big upgrade on the hardware side.
France Performance → Germany Performance
France Budget → Germany Budget
England Budget → Netherlands Budget or Germany Budget (based on your location)
Luxembourg Budget → Germany Budget
With these migrations you’ll also be upgraded to new hardware:
France Performance: Ryzen 5800X → Ryzen 7950X (around 50% performance upgrade)
England Budget: Ryzen 3800X → i5-13500 (around 45% performance upgrade)
Luxembourg Budget: Ryzen 3800X → i5-13500 (around 45% performance upgrade)
Upgrades Are Cool and All, But Why the Move?
First, let’s cover why we’re removing the France location. You might think it’s because of how close it is to England and Germany, but that’s not it. Having solid coverage across Europe has always been a big goal for us. A lot of hosts throw one server in “Europe” and call it a day, but Europe’s a big place, and you want a server close to you.
The reason for removing these locations mainly comes down to stock. One of the ways we’re able to offer our servers at such a low price is through good deals with our datacentre partners. We haven’t reliably been able to get the hardware we need in France at the price we require. That’s meant the France location is often out of stock and running some of the weakest hardware on our network. Because of that, we’ve decided to close France entirely.
We faced the same issue in the England and Luxembourg Budget locations. It’s been tricky getting systems that fit the spec for our Budget line.
That used to be fine when we were smaller, but as we’ve grown, as soon as we get new stock online, it’s gone straight away, which just isn’t sustainable anymore.
Location Upgrades
Most of our fleet is now running on Ryzen 7950X CPUs or better. With these changes, we’re also rolling out upgrades to all our England Performance systems, moving from Ryzen 5800X to 7950X CPUs. Along with that comes a jump from SSD to much faster NVMe storage, plus DDR5 memory. Overall, a big step up from what was already solid performance in the UK.
Our Netherlands and Luxembourg locations are also getting the same treatment. Systems in our Performance line there are already running on 7950X CPUs, and our Netherlands Budget servers are being upgraded to 2288G/2388G CPUs.
When Will These Migrations and Upgrades Happen?
We don’t have any set dates yet, but we’ll post updates on status.kinetichosting.net
our status Twitter, and Discord. We’ll always give you around a week’s warning before your server is moved, and you’ll get an email once it’s done.
How Will My Server Be Impacted?
For most of you, you won’t even notice we’ve done it. We sneak in and move most systems during low play times, and a move only takes around 5–10 minutes.
If your game uses just an IP for connections, you’ll need to use your new IP. If you run a Minecraft network with a custom domain, you’ll just need to point it to your new IP.
As always, any questions, please let us know
