Back in July, we had to increase our prices across all plans to help cover the rising cost of hardware.
As I'm sure many of you know, demand from AI companies and data centres has been driving up the cost of RAM and storage. We've tried our absolute best to keep these increases away from our customers, but with hardware continuing to become more expensive, we've reached a point where we can no longer keep absorbing the additional costs.
Kinetic's low prices were never an accident. We deliberately set them to make game server hosting affordable for as many people as possible. Our goal has always been to find ways to lower prices, not increase them. Unfortunately, here we are again, having to increase them due to circumstances outside our control.
The good news is that Kinetic remains significantly cheaper than many competing hosts. with us still being around 50% cheaper than the leaders in our space. We're still providing 100% human support, high-end Ryzen hardware, and continuing to invest in improvements to our game panel.
And importantly, if you're an existing customer, you'll keep your current price. These changes only affect new orders and upgrades.
Our New Pricing
This increase is a little larger than the one in July, partly because we've changed how we calculate our prices. Previously, we offered progressively larger discounts as you purchased more RAM. We've now moved to a simpler and more consistent pricing model.
Our new pricing formula is $1.15 per GB of RAM, plus a $2 service fee. (4gb plan doesn't have the service fee)
That additional $2 helps cover costs that come with every server, regardless of its size, such as payment gateway fees, currency conversion fees, and other operational expenses.
We then adjust the final price slightly to give each package a standard retail price. We want to be completely open about how we calculate our prices, so you can see exactly where the numbers come from.
New Monthly Prices
RAM | Monthly Price |
|---|---|
4 GB | $4.99 |
6 GB (New!) | $8.99 |
8 GB | $11.99 |
10 GB | $13.99 |
12 GB | $15.99 |
14 GB | $18.99 |
16 GB | $20.99 |
20 GB | $24.99 |
21 GB | $26.99 |
26 GB | $31.99 |
32 GB | $38.99 |
42 GB | $50.99 |
64 GB | $75.99 |
126 GB | $146.99 |
We've also introduced a new 6 GB package, giving customers another option between our 4 GB and 8 GB plans.
Expanding Grandma Sherman's Deals
Alongside these changes, we'll be bringing in additional hardware and expanding our Grandma Sherman's Deals range. While newer hardware has seen some significant price increases, older generations haven't been affected quite as heavily.
Processors like the Intel E-2388G are still very capable, particularly for smaller game servers. By making use of this hardware, we can continue offering lower-cost hosting options for customers who don't need the absolute latest processors.
We still want there to be an affordable way to host a server with Kinetic, regardless of your budget. We'll be publishing our expanded deals later this week.
An Apology
I know this is a rough time for everyone. With the cost of almost everything going up, it can feel like you're being hit from all directions. I'm genuinely sorry that we're having to add to that. We wouldn't be making these changes unless we felt we had no other option.
We've spent a huge amount of time working with our hardware providers, trying to find ways to bring costs down. We've negotiated, explored different hardware options, and looked for every opportunity to save money so we can pass those savings on to you.
But we've reached a wall.
We can no longer consistently get the hardware we need at prices that allow us to maintain our existing pricing. In some cases, it's become a choice between paying considerably more or having no stock available at all. That's not a position we ever wanted to be in. It's frustrating, and honestly quite upsetting, that we're having to charge our customers more because of circumstances nobody at Kinetic can control.
We've always taken pride in making hosting affordable, and that hasn't changed.
When Will This Apply?
Our new prices will take effect on 5 November 2026.
Once again, existing customers will keep their current prices for their existing servers. The new pricing will only apply to new orders and upgrades.
Will Prices Go Down If Hardware Becomes Cheaper?
This is something we're asked quite often, and I want to be open about the answer.
The most likely answer is no, at least not immediately.
Even if hardware prices fall tomorrow, we've already had to purchase or commit to hardware at today's higher prices. Those costs don't suddenly disappear when the market changes. We still need to cover them.
However, our goal has always been to offer the best possible value, and that isn't going anywhere. We'll continue investing in our hardware, adding new features, improving our panel, and finding ways to give you more for your money. And if we ever reach a point where we can sustainably lower prices again, we'll absolutely look at doing so.
Thank you for continuing to support Kinetic. We wouldn't be where we are today without you, and I genuinely appreciate it.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out!
