Need a game server?
Spin one up fast with our feature-rich panel and seriously low prices.
If you're leaving Kinetic Hosting, don't want your server for a while, or just want to make a backup. You may want to download all your server files.
Single Files/Folders
To do this for a single file, such as a config or log, you would need to right click the file in the File Manager and select download.
For folders, such as your world or mods folder, you will need to right click the folder and select Archive. This will create an archive of that folder called something similar to archive-yyyy-mm-ddTxxxxxxZ.tar.gz, from there you'll download the archive the same way as a file. You can see how to access the files inside the archive below in Unarchiving.
Downloading your Entire Server
The best way to do this would be to make a backup and then download it. We have a guide here on how to use your Backup Manager. Once downloaded it will be in a compressed archive. If you plan to come back to Kinetic Hosting you should keep this backup in a safe place as you'll need to re-upload it later to restore your server.
You can restore the server after uploading it to the File Manager, after it's done uploading you will need to right click it and press unarchive, this will put all the contents of the archive back into the server. After that it should be good to start and be fully restored!
Another Way
If you don't want to download your files this way you can login to your server via SFTP and download them all. More info on SFTP can be found here on our guide on how to connect and use SFTP.
Unarchiving
If you're leaving Kinetic Hosting for another host or just want the files inside the archive, we suggest downloading a program called 7 ZIP. You can then unarchive your backup using 7 ZIP by right-clicking the archive and selecting one of the extract options.
