Kinetic Panel 5 is in development
Posted by Chris | 27 September 2024
Last year, we released the biggest update to our panel yet: Panel 4. This update featured a huge UI overhaul, new modpack and version installers, a new Overview page, a schedule system, and so much more.
As we started work on Panel 4, the plans grew and grew. So rather than have Panel 4 take years to develop, we decided to split it into two parts: Panel 4 and Panel 5.
We've now started work on Panel 5.
That's great, but what does this mean for you?

Improvements to the Current Panel
Before we dive into all the new features in Panel 5, we'll also be updating and improving current features based on your feedback.
Modpack Installer
Improvements to the overall UI of the modpack installer will be coming in Panel 5. More information about each modpack will be listed on the installer. Other QoL changes, like links to the modpack's download page, will also be included. Small bugs and issues with the installer, such as your installed modpack not showing at the top of the list, will be fixed. Additionally, we'll add better ways for you to see which Minecraft version your modpack is for.
Version Installer
Like the modpack installer, we'll also be updating our version installer. It will better list versions and add more of the unsupported versions to our list.
Overview Page
The Overview page is being fully rebuilt from the ground up to add a new drag-and-drop system, a new way to add components, and over 15 new components for you to use. You'll be able to do even more from your overview page, with options to update installed modpacks, manage players, and more. We've also made fixes and improvements to current components such as the console, allowing you to see a full-size console and send commands to your server from the overview page.
Schedule System
In Panel 4, we made the Schedule system more simple. In Panel 5, we'll be refining this further. We'll also be adding prebuilt schedules for common tasks like restarting your server or backing up your world.
Backup System
An all-new, faster backup system will be rolling out with Panel 5. This will allow you to create and restore backups more quickly. We'll also enable you to mount created backups, allowing you to restore specific files from your backup without needing to restore everything.
UI Improvements and Changes
Most pages will be changed and improved in Panel 5, including new Dashboard, Network and Ports, and Firewall pages.
New Features
Alright, that's a lot of improvements to the current panel and big changes, but what fully new features are we adding?
Profiles
With Panel 5 comes our new profile system. Let's say you're playing a Minecraft modpack called Mythic: Classic. You then fancy playing a bit of the new Palworld update but still want to return to Mythic: Classic later. In Panel 5, you'll be able to make a profile of your server. This will save all your settings and files. You can then install Palworld onto your server and play that. Once you're done, you can switch back to Mythic: Classic with all your settings and files still there.
Everyone will have around 5 profiles to use.
We're also working on features that should allow you to make a profile on one of your servers and then deploy it onto another split server, enabling you to move files around your servers with just a few button presses.
Import Curse and Modrinth Exports
In Panel 5, you'll be able to upload your Curse and Modrinth export files directly to the server. Our panel will then download all the mods for you and remove any client-only mods from your server, allowing you to build server files for your custom modpack in an instant.
More On the Way
We're still working on Panel 5, and we'll be adding more features and changes as we go. We'll keep you updated on our progress and what we're adding. If you want to see early previews of Panel 5 and give us feedback while we're working on it, please join our feedback team.
