What's New in RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0, Available Now!
Posted by Dals | 16 September 2026
RuneScape Dragonwilds has just graduated from its early access period with the game's sweeping 1.0 update release! This update brings a ton of changes and improvements, notably also making crossplay possible thanks to the developers bringing the game to consoles including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S, Nintendo Switch 2, and more!
There are so many new additions to the game to cover though, so we've broken down the in-game improvements and below so you can know what to expect.
New Region: Scorned Wilderness
An all-new region is being added to the game, titled Scorned Wilderness! This is home to the new "The Hub" area, which gives players a dedicated space to build together, as well as a Raid Area to tackle a massive dragon.

This region also comes with its own signature quest line / story, the Regicide quest.
New Boss: Kuldra, the God-Eater
The raid area of the scorned wilderness is home to a new end-game boss. Killing her will guarantee you a Dragon Kiteshield drop, as well as a cape to represent your triumph.

New Weapon Type: Wands
Dragonwilds 1.0 also introduced the all-new weapon type of wands! These are much more fast-paced forms of magic damage compared to alternatives like staffs. These offer an entirely new way to build a playstyle of your own around magic in the game without feeling the need to sit back in the backline with a staff to cast bigger spells.

New Enemies & Boss Content
There are also all-new enemies you can expect to encounter in and around the Scorned Wilderness as you play! In particular, you can expect to be fighting your way through:
Goblin Thugs
Goblin Poisonshot Archers
Garou Exiles
Garou Lightning Berserkers
Rotsworn Reanimators
Skeletal Blightshots
Black Knight Crusaders
Blazing Black Knights
Stormpact Demonss
Black Dragons

New Gear & Items
Even more-so than enemies, there are all-new suites of equipment you'll be able to craft and equip. Many of these carry their own signature effects that are based on the story and lore you'll uncover in the world thanks to the new Regicide quest line!

Some of the core equipment sets you can expect include:
Rune Equipment (Includes: Helmet, Platebody, Platelegs, Shield, Dagger, Mace, Greataxe, Greatsword, Sword, Scimitar, Warhammer, & Crossbow)
Black Dragonhide (Includes: Coif, Body, & Chaps)
Ancestral (Includes: Hat, Robes, Robe Legs, Wand, & Staff)
Magic Items (Includes: Longbow & Shortbow)
Dragon Equipment (Includes: Full Helm, Platebody, Platelegs, Med Helm, Shield, & Scimitar)
Other Equipment (Including items like Kuldra's Wrath!)
Crafting & Material Expansion
Thanks to all the new materials you have to work with, crafting options in the game have also been expanded! One of the most notable examples of this is the new Advanced Spinning Wheel. This serves as a totally separate workstation from the regular Spinning Wheel, and items processed in it are exclusive to being maintained in the advanced version.

The new ores and materials you'll find around the world include:
Runite Ore (Harvest Requirements: Adamant Pickaxe or greater)
Luminite Ore (Harvest Requirements: Adamant Pickaxe or greater)
Magic Wood (Harvest Requirements: Rune Logging Axe or greater)
Black Dragon Hide (Crafted with the Advanced Tannery)
Runic Powder (Crafted at a Grindstone)

Gameplay Changes & Improvements
A huge array of general improvements to existing systems in the game have also been made thanks to the constant efforts of the team over at The RuneScape Company!

The building system of the game has been massively optimized. It shouldn't take you full minutes to load your larger builds and constructs anymore!
The feeling of movement, especially during combat, have been overhauled massively based on community feedback. Notably:
Parrying attacks now restored 50% of your max stamina, giving a great way to turn a fight around and rewarding playing a bit smarter.
The camera has been adjusted to allow more freedom in your movement before it starts to automatically snap and adjust to your position.
Follow-up attacks, Visceral Attacks, can now be achieved properly when you successfully pull off a parry against an enemy.
Special attacks now consume a separate portion of a Special Attack Bar. This bar will recharge over time, but add a bit more strategy to how often you use your special attacks each time.
You will now be able to cancel attacks, spell-casting, and more using dodges or blocks. This should help eliminate a sense of 'clunkiness' many players reported in the previous combat system in the game.
4 hotkeys have been added to the skill spell wheel, giving you a way to quickly cast a spell you have bound.
Ava's Accumulator will no longer make a sound when equipped, offering some long-needed peace and quiet!
Some enemies such as Dire Wolves have seen balance touches to make them feel less jarring to fight in earlier stages of exploring new areas.
The game map's utility has been overhauled, showing active lodestones, adding tooltips on-hover, and making icons more interactive.
You can now report players and problematic worlds in the game. These are fully moderated by real human beings, with No AI Involved with the moderation process!
A load of other quality of life improvements have also been added, ranging from improving the usability of menus to control options.
Of course, a lot of bug fixes have also been addressed! In fact, the team confirmed that over 2,000 bugs have been fixed (2,665 to be precise) going into the 1.0 update!
