Core Keeper 1.3: Riders of the Underground, Out Now!

Core Keeper has just released their 1.3 update, titled Riders of the Underground! This update features a new sub-biome, mountable cattle, new equipment, and more. You can find a full breakdown of the core changes in the update below!

Mounting Animals

The main update theme of Core Keeper 1.3 is the ability to mount any cattle! You are now able to equip a saddle (or racing saddle) to any cattle animals to turn them into mounts and ride them around wherever you go.

New Sub-Biome & Cattle

There's also now a lot more to explore in the Forgotten Ruins biome thanks to the addition of the Moss sub-biome! There are new secrets to explore in the new overgrown, mossy region, including an all-new mount!

You'll be able to find the new Orex cattle in the Moss sub-biome of the Forgotten Ruins, all equippable with the new saddles to mount them and ride back home after your discoveries. These are cute, green, dinosaur-like creatures that fit in perfectly with the aesthetic of the biome.

New Pets & Enemies

Core Keeper has a big focus on the narrative and story of the world as you play, so be aware of potential spoilers of the pets you can discover in the patch notes below! With that said, you can find the following new pets teased for the 1.3 update now across the underground:

• Hoppet

• Azeos Jr.

• Something lazy found in The Desert of Beginnings

Apart from the new pet additions, there are also some new enemies to be on the lookout for! You may encounter the new Wingling or Searpent creatures in your adventure which won't be quite as friendly as an Orex.

New Weapons & Equipment

There are now all-new weapon types, including a new weapon type for warlock and other general equipment pieces added to the game. However, most notably of all is the addition of Hookshots! This is a new off-hand item that comes in a regular and "Gilded" variant, and lets you traverse the underground in entirely new ways.

Apart from that, the new weapons you can find include:

• Corrosion Staff

• Blizzard Staff

• Sniper Rifle

This is all apart from the all-new weapon type for Warlocks, in the form of Scepters! They are debuting in Core Keeper with 7 types of Scepters, including a legendary variant you can encounter.

Otherwise, you can still expect entirely new equipment options in the game as well, including 10 new armor pieces, 15 new rings, and 15 new necklaces!

Game Modding

Core Keeper's modding experience has been improved massively!

• The game's modding SDK now has built-in custom scene creation tools to load custom scenes in-game.

• You'll now be able to mod most objects and items in the game to look and behave differently than normal.

• Map markers can now be modded, allowing new icons and indicators to be added.

• An all-new dedicated Mods menu has been added, letting you adjust mod load order and see installation sources.

Lots More New Additions!

There are a ton of changes and additions added to the game in this update which aren't quite involved enough to earn their own category here. But you can find them listed out below for reference!

Minion Changes

• You may now spawn the maximum available number of minions at once immediately

• The general cooldown for minion spawning has been removed.

• Minions now remain indefinitely, and don't expire after a period of time! (though you can decide on your own when to despawn your minions now)

Other Changes

• Added a new Training Dummy you can craft and place.

• New loot chests have been added for 3 new bosses: Azeos the Sky Titan, Omoroth the Sea Titan, and Ra-Akar the Sand Titan.

• New achievements have been added to the game!

• Vehicles like boats, minecarts, go-karts, etc. will now be dropped and moved to your inventory if you die (instead of being stored in your grave).

• Added improved controls for go-karts including a handbrake and better handling.

• You can now break, pick up, and place many giant objects you weren't able to before!

• Paint brushes can now be resized and enlarged up to a 5x5 area.

• You can now customize your crosshair/cursor in the options menu.

• Waypoints and portals will now activate faster!

• You can now compare gear items directly to quickly judge stats and effects.

• Loadouts can be quickly cycled and swapped between in presets thanks to keybinds for loadout swapping.

• If you reconnect to a server, you will now keep the same amount of health you had when you originally disconnected.

• Lots of game balance adjustments!

• New soundtracks for various bosses.

• General graphics improvements including multiple pet colors, poses, and go-karts.

• Tons of new quality of life improvements.
